Reading Systems is the company behind Phonica - an online, interactive, multimedia system
for teaching literacy to primary school children, high school students and adults, which simulates one to one 'master' teaching.
A successful trial of Phonica took place in 2004, the same year it won an Australian Government Innovation Award.
Phonica is now being used by families, tutors and schools across Australia and overseas.
Phonica was developed by Dr Jeffrey Tobias BSc PhD and Norman Swan MBChB, MRCP, DCH, FRCP.
Dr Swan was trained in paediatrics, has an international reputation as a health broadcaster with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation
and is the National Patron of SPELD (Specific Learning Disabilities Association), the support organisation in Australia for teachers
and parents of people with learning difficulties.
Dr Tobias has a PhD in computer science and a strong track record in the development and marketing of educational software.
